President Biden said Tuesday in Mexico City he was “surprised” when he learned that potentially classified documents were in his old office space before the 2020 election campaign. The Justice Department is reviewing the matter and House Republicans plan to do a “damage assessment” of the documents.

The House of Representatives voted Tuesday to approve a resolution authorizing a House panel to investigate the “weaponization” of the federal government. House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan is expected to head the investigation.

And meteorologists say more rain will pummel California this week as the state reels from relentless storms that have already killed at least 17 people. The latest storms this week created sinkholes, landslides, and heavy flooding forcing thousands to evacuate.
