Lessons from T.L. Osborn

20 years ago today, I sit in the office of T.L. Osborn in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and listened to his mentorship of a young evangelist that had much more passion than wisdom at the time. This was like meeting Elijah for evangelists. No matter if Bonnke had won more people to Jesus, T.L. Osborn is still the grandfather of mass evangelism.

He was 78 years old at the time and was still doing evangelism full time in the nations. (This was a year before he had a stroke while teaching at Victory Bible Institute) I can only hope to be that active at that age.

A friend of a pastor made it possible to sit in the man’s office for several hours and talk evangelism. I am forever thankful for the time I was given and the shared wisdom. The one thing I remember most is he was not in a hurry. He enjoyed talking with young evangelists. Many times, leaders want to get you in and out. This was not the case.

As I walked into his office, I was amazed at all the people, not of him but of the people who had come to Jesus. The heroes of T.L. Osborn were the nations that are not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Seed the Nations

The first thing that he told me was to seed the nations with literature. Books can go where you can not. They can go more places faster. The important of the written word was the message I got from Brother T.L. Osborn. Articles like this can read in nations that the gospel is not ever legal.
