K. C. John

Mulakuzha: Former Overseer of Church of God in India, Kerala State, Reverend K. C. John (74) has been promoted to glory on 22nd August 2023.

Pastor K. C. John was born as the youngest son of four children of Mr. K. K. Chacko and Mrs. Rahelamma Chacko. He studied at Mulakuzha Government High School and later at Chengannur Christian College and was active in the Christian Students’ Groups during his college days. In 1972, he worked for the ‘Every Home Crusade’ after his Graduation in English Literature. In 1974, he became a Church of God member in India, Mulakuzha. After his theological studies at Union Biblical Seminary, Pune, he started his teaching ministry at Faith Theological Seminary, Manakala. He later served as the teaching faculty of Mount Zion Bible College, Mulakuzha and Bethel Ladies Bible School, Kumbanad.

He started his Pastoral ministry in 1976 as the Pastor of his native church at Mulakuzha. In March 1981, he was appointed as the Director of the Education Department of Church of God, Tamil Nadu State. He rendered commendable service in Tamil Nadu for the next 9 years. He also ministered in Doha.

He was appointed as the State Overseer of the Church of God in India Kerala State in 2002. He decorated that honored position until 2008. Notably, he has made his mark as he founded a Children’s Home in Thodupuzha, and a Bible School was also started in Kannur during his period.

After stepping down from his official position in Kerala, he was honoured by the Church of God International which appointed him as the National Representative. He has also temporarily served as Overseer in Tamil Nadu and Kerala Region. He served as a member of the Church of God National Governing Body, Director of Education Department in Kerala State, Secretary of the State Council, Registrar of Mount Zion Bible College, and District Pastor.

Pastor K. C. John was a man of prayer. He shone as a spiritual leader in the history of the Pentecostal community in Kerala.

He is survived by his wife, Gifty John (Madathilparampil House, Thiruvalla) and children, Mr. Samuel (New Zealand), Mrs. Sneha (USA), Mrs. Smitha (Australia), Mrs. Serin (Kochi), Late Mr. Sajeev, and his children in Law, Mr. Gikku (New Zealand), Mr. James (USA), Mr. Saju (Australia), and Mr. John Issac (Kochi).
