Looking For a Corner in A Round Room :: By Grant Phillips
I wish I could take credit for the statement, “looking for a corner in a round room,” but I can’t. A person my wife and I were talking to the other day used this term, and it made me think of people in the coming Tribulation looking for a place to hide. It’s a horrible thought, but those who don’t know Jesus as Savior need to seriously consider it.
There is really no excuse for anyone today who is still living, suffering the horrors of the Tribulation. All who belong to Jesus will be removed before that time of judgment comes upon our world.
Most of us lately have been watching the heartbreaking atrocities in Ukraine. I cannot imagine what those folks are going through, but as bad as it is now in that country, the Tribulation will be so much worse. The Tribulation will be like two tigers going after a kitten.
People will be looking for a place to hide, but there won’t be any. Even most of those who finally turn to Christ will be slaughtered. Thank goodness their soul will be saved. Even so, many will perish for following Jesus.
As we look back from Ukraine and gaze our eyes upon our own country, we know it too is falling apart. War has not overtaken our shores yet, but that is not to say we are exempt. America is currently in such turmoil that anything is possible.
Our greatest problem is that we have turned our backs upon God and embraced all that is evil. Right is wrong, wrong is right, up is down, and down is up. We have rejected God, so He has stepped back and left us to our own devices.
WORSHIP OF FALSE GODS
“Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen” (Romans 1:24-25, NIV).
SEXUAL PERVERSION
“Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error” (Romans 1:26-27, NIV).
DEPRAVED MINDS
“Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them” (Romans 1:28-32, NIV).
All of the above, from Romans 1:24 through Romans 1:32, are in full swing in our society. We stand in the gutter of depravity up to our eyeballs. God has stepped back three times. Now there is nothing left but God’s judgment.
Even many in the Church don’t realize just how close we are to judgment that will come from a holy God. Many in the churches don’t even know Jesus as their personal Savior. Most are just playing church, putting on an act with no heart of repentance. When the true Church is gone in the Rapture, then they will listen, but it will be too late. Many will accept the words of the Antichrist instead and be eternally doomed. Now they reject the Truth. But then they will accept the lie.
“They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness” (2 Thessalonians 2:10b-12).
I don’t know when Jesus will remove His Church (the bride) and then bring the Tribulation down upon this world. I do know He wants us to warn others, just as Noah did before the flood. The salvation Gospel and the coming of Christ should be on our lips to any who will listen. Listen carefully to the following warning from God.
“If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ and again, ‘The Lord will judge his people.’ It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:26-31, NIV).
The Lord is giving notice in this Scripture passage that those who have heard the Gospel and rejected it will fall under His wrath. Denying the Gospel is trampling underfoot the Son of God who provided salvation with His own blood to all who will come to Him.
The world is becoming very dark, but there is nothing to fear for all who know Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord. If you want steadfast assurance, call upon Him now. Otherwise, you will be looking for a corner in a round room.
