Evangel Experiences Record-Breaking Giving Year

Evangel University celebrated a record-breaking giving total of over $27 million in the 2022-2023 fiscal year. This total includes a $10 million gift from the Green family and $6 million in grant awards and nearly triples the previous fiscal year record of $10.4 million.

“We are humbled by the collective spirit of generosity that thrives within our Evangel community,” said Mike Rakes, Evangel’s president. “Alumni and friends of the university believe in our mission and commitment to excellence. Their incredible generosity has supported the work God is doing here on EU’s campus.”

EU is in the midst of its historic Here.Now. Campaign, a series of the first major construction projects on campus since 2009.

The Randy Rowden Intramural Field was completed in early spring 2023, and the renovated Walther Hall dorm is slated to open on August 5. Construction continues on the Valor Center, including the Randy Rowden Training Facility, with completion scheduled for summer of 2024.

Rakes recently put out the challenge to raise the final $5 million needed to finish the new construction projects and complete the campaign.

In addition to unprecedented giving and significant campus upgrades, Evangel experienced an increase of more than 350 students, or 11% enrollment growth, in the 2022-2023 school year.

“The momentum occurring at Evangel is undeniable,” said Rakes. “There is an energy and excitement here that indicates we are providing what students and families want — a world-class education through the lens of a biblical worldview.”
