Father, Lead Us, Please :: By Dennis Huebshman

Psalm 48: 10-14; “As Your name, Oh God, So Your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness. Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments. Walk about Zion; go around Her; number Her towers; consider well Her ramparts; go through Her citadels; that You may tell the next generation that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.” (ESV – all emphasis is mine)

Psalm 107:6-9; “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in. Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of man. For He satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things.”

Deuteronomy 31:8; “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

John 8:12; “When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, ‘I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life.’”

John 12:26; “Whoever serves Me must follow Me; and where I am, My servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves Me.”

The lure of all the supposed worldly pleasures and treasures is pulling souls away from our Heavenly Father, Our Savior Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. False prophets and antichrists are trying to convince as many souls as possible that there are many ways to Heaven without Jesus. Messages being given in previously biblically based evangelical churches are filled with “feel-good, ear-tickling” messages designed to keep people happy without mentioning any form of sin.

This may be all well and good to keep pews and collection plates full, but the members’ souls are being prepared for the White Throne Judgment of Revelation 20:11-15.

Jesus made it totally clear in a plain and simple statement in John 14:6; “….I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.”

God knew from the beginning just how our souls would be attacked when we receive and accept His Son as our Savior (Romans 10:9-13). Jesus promised His disciples, and all of us, that “The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to remembrance all that I have said to you” (John 14:26).

Because Jesus came to earth in human form to be our exclusive way to the Father, there are people who are saying that He was not really part of the Godhead but was just another good prophet. John 1:1-3 states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.”

Jesus was also very specific in John 10:30, saying, “I and the Father are One.” The religious leaders of His day tried to reject this, much the same as people today are not accepting God’s word on the Truth. God cannot and will not lie (Titus 1:2). Satan gives out nothing but lies, and sadly, more people accept the devil’s lies than God’s Holy Word. Jesus said this would be so in Matthew 7:13-14 when He told of the broad path versus the straight and narrow way.

Satan and his demons, or fallen angels, know what their outcome will be as given in Revelation 20:10. After all, Jesus plainly states that the Lake of Fire was specifically made for them in Matthew 24:41. Please understand, Satan knows the Bible from cover to cover, but he also realizes he can never be forgiven for his sins. Remember that during the temptation of Jesus in the desert, Satan spoke of “it is written” as if quoting God’s word. The thing is, Jesus corrected him on each statement as being false, and Satan finally had to leave in defeat.

God wants everyone to succeed and be with Him forever, as 2 Peter 3:9 states. However, He will force no one to come to Him or to accept His Son. All who truly call on the name of the Lord, He will save. He does provide the Holy Spirit to indwell all of the Shepherd’s precious flock, and He knows we will sin until we take our last breath on this earth. For this, He has provided the means of our being forgiven in 1 John 1:8-10. It’s a promise, and God never goes back on a Covenant.

If we allow the Father to do so, He will “Lead Me Gently Home.” Will L. Thompson (1847-1909) wrote a song with that title in 1879. It’s a simple plea for the Father to be at our side during our journey on this earth.

1.) Lead me gently Home, Father, lead me gently Home. When life’s toils are ended, and parting days have come, sin no more shall tempt me; never from thee I’ll roam, if Thou will only lead me, Father, lead me gently Home.

Ref.) Lead me gently Home, Father; lead me gently Home. Lest I fall upon the wayside, lead me gently Home.

2.) Lead me gently Home, Father, lead me gently Home. In life’s darkest hours, Father, when life’s troubles come, keep my feet from wandering, lest from Thee I roam; lest I fall upon the wayside; lead me gently Home.

Although everyone thought that Jesus only came to save God’s chosen people, the Jews, Jesus made it very clear in John 10:16 that His sacrifice would be for everyone who would receive and accept Him. “And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice. So there will be one flock, one Shepherd.”

Also, there’s a misconception that all the Jewish people are saved just because of their race. The truth is that all persons who were in the will of the Father prior to Calvary and all who would receive and accept Jesus from Calvary to the end of this earth will be saved. That includes every person who has lived or will live until the end of time.

Therefore, all who were out of the will of the Father pre-Calvary and all who would not receive and accept His Son’s free gift will be lost. As stated, everyone who will be lost from the beginning to the end of time on this earth will appear at the White Throne. This is not to see if they will be saved or pardoned but to determine the degree of punishment they will be subject to throughout all eternity. At this judgment, no one can call out to be saved – Period.

The time to secure your soul for eternal life with our Lord and Savior is today – right now. We are not guaranteed another day here, and to wait could be very costly, as mentioned above.

Will the way be easy? The Lord told of all the end-time activities that will be taking place in Matthew 24 and Luke 21, as well as Paul, John, James, Peter, and others in their writings. He told us that we would be persecuted. In some countries today, just to claim Jesus as Savior leads to martyrdom. Please know that what’s happening around the world today will not get any better. We’re in that end-time cycle that is bringing us closer to all true believers being removed from the earth before the tribulation. God promised to keep believers from the wrath in 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10, and Revelation 3:10.

The trend in today’s world is that anyone who does not accept alternate lifestyles contrary to God’s word is considered a “hater.” Though we don’t accept these lifestyles, we still love everyone for their immortal souls. We pray for all of our loved ones that they will receive and accept the gift our Savior gave at Calvary before it’s too late. That prayer includes every living soul on earth while there is still time.

Jesus is waiting for anyone to call. No one has sinned so greatly that they will not be able to be forgiven. His blood reaches every soul on this earth who will turn to Him and call out to be saved. Just make the call while the “line” is still open.

Shalom! Maranatha! (Peace to you – Come, Lord Jesus!)
