The Life of Moses :: By Keith Watts

The link to the message on my YouTube channel is https://youtu.be/6BG-mKlhvL0.

Moses was an amazing man. The Lord used Moses in a mighty way. Moses heard the audible voice of God more than any other person that has ever lived. Moses had such a close walk with the Lord. He spent more time with the Lord more than any other person.

Deuteronomy 34:7 “And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.”

When Moses died, he had the strength of a young man. He did not die of old age even though he was 120 years old. He died because of his anger. The children of Israel needed water, and God told Moses to speak to the rock (not like the first time when Moses was told to hit the rock). But Moses got angry with the people, and he hit the rock instead. The rock represented the Rock of Ages, Jesus Christ’s body. The first time Moses was to hit the rock – this is a picture of the body of Jesus on the cross. He is only to die once on the cross. He was beaten for our sins only once. That is why God told Moses the second time to speak to the rock.

This type of anger can get you in trouble. This type of anger will cause you to commit murder. Do you have an anger problem?

Numbers 12:3 “(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth).”

Moses, at the time he was on this earth, was very meek (humble), more than any other man on the earth. He was so humble, but he had an anger problem. If you are not meek, God cannot use you. It took 40 years to humble Moses. How long will it take to humble you? Do you want to be humbled? Most people do not want to be humbled. The first step of salvation is to realize you are a sinner and in need of a Savior, but you have to humble yourself to kneel at the cross. It is going to be amazing to see those in the Bible in Heaven. I would love to talk to Moses, and one day I will. We will be able to talk to all of the Bible heroes also.

Text verses for the message are Acts 7:17-36.

Acts 7:17 “But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

Acts 7:18 Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.

Acts 7:19 The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.

Acts 7:20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father’s house three months:

Acts 7:21 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.

Acts 7:22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

Acts 7:23 And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.

Acts 7:24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:

Acts 7:25 For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.

Acts 7:26 And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?

Acts 7:27 But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?

Acts 7:28 Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?

Acts 7:29 Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.

Acts 7:30 And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

Acts 7:31 When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

Acts 7:32 Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

Acts 7:33 Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

Acts 7:34 I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

Acts 7:35 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

Acts 7:36 He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.”

Verse 17-19: Joseph has been dead for a long time. A new Pharaoh is over Egypt, and he does not know who Joseph is. He is scared of the children of Israel, and so he orders all male babies to be thrown in the Nile River. He is worshipping the Nile River; it was one of Egypt’s gods. He is sacrificing the male babies to his god. The same is going on today through abortion.

  1. In The first forty years of Moses’ life, he found out he was somebody (20-22).

Verse 20: we find that Moses was hidden from the authorities because if they found him, he would have been cast into the Nile. I’m sure there were Jews that would have turned Moses over to the Egyptians and would have been given money and would not be slaves.

Moses’ mother made him a little ark that would float, and she put him in the river. Mariam, Moses’ older sister, watches to see what would happen to Moses.

Verse 21: Pharaoh’s daughter finds Moses in the river. She had compassion for him. She had broken the law of her father by not casting him in the river. Pharaoh allowed this to happen. Pharaoh’s daughter took him up. It is amazing to me, but the Lod is using the wicked to have his plan come together. The wicked do not even believe that he is God. If they did, they would fear him. So Moses became her son.

Verse 22: Moses had the easy life, or the good life, as the world would call it. He had wealth, fame, and power. Whatever Moses wanted, he could get it. The world would call this success. It is so empty on the inside; the world cannot satisfy you as Jesus can. We are made to worship God Almighty. So Moses, at the end of forty years, thought he was somebody.

  1. In the second forty years of Moses’ life, he found out he was nobody (23-29).

Verse 23: He knew who he really was; he was a Jew. It came into his heart to visit his brethren. You can never get away from who you really are in life if you are a child of God; you cannot get away from that. Moses could not get away from being a Jew.

Verse 24: An Egyptian was whipping a Jew; Moses defended him, and he killed the Egyptian.

Verse 25: Moses knew that he was the one to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Verse 26-28: Moses thought it was time to do this, but God had other plans. Moses was not ready for what the Lord had called him to do. The easiest thing to do is be on your timing and not God’s timing. I know in my personal life, I try to hurry up God. I want to tell you right now, God’s timing is right on time; it is perfect in every way. Moses tried to hurry up God. Moses would have failed in his calling if he tried to lead Israel out of Egypt at this time. The same for you and me also. Moses had to go through forty years of wilderness before he would be ready; it took forty years to humble Moses. How long will it take the Lord to humble you?

Moses had seen two of his brethren at each other, and he came to bring peace. The one that was in the wrong said to him, Are you going to kill me like you did with the Egyptian? The fellow Jew also asked him, Who made you ruler and a judge?

Verse 29: Moses fled into the wilderness; he was a stranger in the land. A lot happens in Moses’ life from verse 29 to 30. The Lord was making his servant ready for his service. The Lord needs to humble us. We have to be willing to be humbled for the Lord to use us.

Daniel 4:37 “Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.”

The Lord is able to humble us. That is what King Nebuchadnezzar said, and there was not one person on the face of the earth that was above him. God Almighty will humble you also. The Lord can only use you so much if there is any pride in your heart. Moses was the meekest man on earth, and look what the Lord did with him.

  1. In The third forty years of Moses’ life, he found out God could use anybody (30-36).

Verse 30: There was a burning bush that was not on fire, and it got Moses’ attention. I want to let you know right now, God will get your attention – if you’re lost, to save you, and if you’re saved, to get you right with him so he can use you. The Lord knows how to get your attention. What is scary is he gets your attention and you will not yield to him and keep going in the same direction. How many times do you think he will allow you to keep going the way you’re going?

Verse 31: The Lord spoke to him in an audible voice; Moses heard the Lord’s voice. Wow! The children of Israel heard his voice, and they thought that the voice of God was going to kill them. They told Moses, we will hear from you and not God; that is how scared they were to hear the voice of God. The Lord speaks to us through the Holy Spirit. I want to ask you, Christian, can you hear the voice of the Holy Spirit? Do you even know his voice when He speaks?

Verse 32: Moses trembled and did not even look toward the burning bush. Why? Because Moses was in the presence of God.

Verse 33: The Lord told Moses to put off his shoes, for he was standing on holy ground. Being in the presence of God is awesome. We, as Christians, can experience the presence of the Lord here on earth. YOU WILL NEVER FORGET IT. If you are walking daily with the Lord, He will be in your presence. There are times that you will feel his presence more than other times.

Verse 34: The Lord said, “I will send thee into Egypt.” The Lord called Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt. Now Moses is back on God’s timing and not his timing. What has the Lord called you to do? Many Christians will die and go to heaven never having fulfilled God’s calling on their lives. They will say yes to the calling on their lives, but will they fulfill all of the calling on their lives?

Verse 35: Remember, the Jew that said to Moses, who made you a ruler and a judge? This same Jew was under the authority of Moses. Let God take care of people and situations. He is really good at it.

Verse 36: He brought them out. Moses completed what the Lord had called him to do. Will you complete what the Lord has called you to do?

In closing

No matter how young you are or how old you are, the Lord can use you. There are two requirements: a willing vessel and being fit for use. So many may be willing, but their vessel is not fit for use. If you will walk with him daily, you will become fit for use.

  • David, as a teenager, slew the giant.
  • A boy only had enough food to feed himself two fish and five loaves of bread. The Lord took this and fed thousands.
  • Josiah was eight years old when he became king. Revival was started in Judah with this king.
  • Moses was 80 years old when God called him to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt.

What has God called you to do? Have you said yes to his calling? Are you a vessel fit for use?

Urgent prayer for seven nations

2 Kings 19:1 “And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.”

2 Kings 19:15-16 “And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth. LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.”

I am asking all prayer warriors to join with us for a day of prayer, fasting, and repentance on May 23, 2023, for these seven nations:

  1. Macao and on behalf of over 675,444 precious souls.
  2. Maldives and on behalf of over 568,938 precious souls.
  3. Brunei Darussalam and on behalf of over 449,698 precious souls.
  4. Albania, and on behalf of over 2,868,894 precious souls.
