Is “Enough Is Enough” Really Enough? :: By Dave Hubley

(There is a special message at the end of this article for those who might happen to read this and do not have Jesus in their life and are looking for peace and a way to better understand the present-day insanity and confusion.)

Before I begin, let me make clear that I am generally a positive person, but with an accompanying mixture of pragmatism learned the hard way over 72+ years.

This article begins with the emphasis on the pragmatism aspect.

I’m hearing or reading this phrase, “Enough is enough,” along with “This has gone too far,” “Can things get any worse?” and similar phrases every day now.

At one time, these sorts of idioms were relatively uncommon. But now, as the world revolves and devolves into madness, the phrases have become prolific.

But are they applicable in terms of prompting action that will correct the conduct or behavior that prompts their declaration?

I think not.

And worse, I think that you also think not.

Like the necessity for an alcoholic to recognize and admit to him or herself that they, in fact, do have a problem, this unpleasant fact will have to be faced up to and acknowledged before any concrete action can result.

I don’t believe we are going to see any possibility of “enough being enough.”

I don’t think that things really have gone as far as they are going to go.

I, unfortunately, believe that things can and will get much, much worse (in human terms).

A Godless insanity has taken possession of this world.

One proof of this is patently obvious and is already recognized by most people. In other countries, this country, and even in our own hometowns, evil is rearing its ugly and venomous head in ways that we find not just uncomfortable or threatening but revolting.

What is also clear is that I needn’t provide a list for two reasons:

  • You are already aware of them.
  • The list would be enormous.

The current wave of human depravity is all the proof one should need of the existence of evil. When I say evil, I really mean Evil.

Satan, The Devil, The Accuser, The Father of Lies, call him what you will. The proof, as they say, of the pudding “is in the eating,” and the present-day pudding is foul indeed.

He is not some cutesy little red character with a forked tail and a trident. He is as real as rain and hell-bent on destroying you.

So, these are the realities that must be acknowledged, but there is another proof that must be understood.

The Bible, God’s Word, makes it clear that Evil will continue to grow and human beings will continue to degrade and debauch until God determines that “enough is enough” and executes the judgments defined in the Book of Revelation beginning in Chapter 4, verse 1.

So, are we able to say this mess is all God’s fault?

Nope, can’t hang your hat there. God provided His Laws and expectations to humans right at the outset, and almost all written human law is based on that fact.

Humans simply chose to ignore them, just like God said we would.

He gave us free will to choose, and we “chose poorly.”

Unlike humans, when God determines “enough is enough,” He will act according to His Word as He has throughout history, from the very first chapter of the very first Book of the Bible (Genesis) to the very last chapter of the very last Book (Revelation).

So, if we want to point the finger of blame somewhere, we should point it at that person staring back at us from the bathroom mirror.

It really is just that simple.

You and I are sinners, and God’s Word, the Bible, makes that clear.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Emphasis added by me.

And the consequences of that have also been made clear.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

The Word of God clearly indicates that there is no possibility of any end outside of that which He, by His Grace and Mercy, has revealed to all humanity.

“Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death—the lake of fire. And if anyone was found whose name was not written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:14). Emphasis added by me.

Despite man’s best effort to replace God by becoming his own god, human hubris will fail, and God’s “council will stand, and He will do all His good pleasure.”

“Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure” (Isaiah 46:9-10).

Now for the positive part and the crux of this article.

There is another end that God, in His Mercy and Grace, has established for anyone who will seek Him with their whole heart.

It is eternal life in His presence to be shared with all who will repent, confess their sin, and put their trust in God’s One and Only Son, Jesus Christ.

This is the way, the only way, that God has determined that anyone’s name can be found in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

You do not have to go down to judgment with this sin-infested, hopeless, and rebellious world. You can open your spirit and your heart’s door and Live! By Jesus’ own Word:

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20).

To these, He has promised:

“But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

The special message I promised you:

For anyone who may read this article and has not trusted in Jesus Christ and therefore has no hope or peace in your life.

You can have hope. You can have the peace that Jesus has promised to all who have made Him their Lord and Savior. The peace that passes understanding.

It requires that you come before God on His terms.

And, what are His terms according to His Word?

  • Genuine repentance (turning to God instead of continuing to reject or ignore Him).
  • Confession of sins (that you are a sinner and acknowledge that to God).
  • That you understand that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
  • To acknowledge to God that you are unable to pay that debt.
  • Belief that Jesus Christ paid your death sentence for you on the cross.
  • To believe that Jesus is the Way, the only Way, that God has established by which humans may be saved from the consequences of their sin and rebellion.

God has made it absolutely clear that there is no one who comes before Him, under His terms, that will be refused.

  • No one: no race, no color, no country of origin, regardless of any previous belief system: no one.
  • No matter what your past sins have been, God can and WILL forgive you because He says He will.
  • Salvation is available to everyone without any exceptions.

If you put all your trust for salvation in Jesus, and Him only, you can follow that prayer up by simply saying, “Thank you, Father God, for hearing my prayer and saving me,” because we can trust Him to keep His Word. He always has. He always will.

“Truly, Truly, I say to you that he who hears My words and believes the One who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned. He has crossed from death to life” (John 5:24).

There are no answers and there is no hope in the world by governments, organizations, politics or politicians. There are only lies and deception. But you can have the Truth and the peace you seek.

The answers are in the Word of God—The Bible. If you ask God, with all your heart, He will hear you.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).
