Russian and Chinese Warships, Louisiana’s ‘In God We Trust’ Law, and USWNT Exits World Cup #shorts

Russian and Chinese naval ships patrolled international waters “near Alaska” last week, according to U.S. military officials in a move that’s being seen as a provocative show of force amid rising tensions. The Wall Street Journal reports the ships were “not considered a threat” despite the military dispatching four US destroyers and a P-8 Poseidon aircraft to monitor the ships.

Louisiana law will now require public schools to display the national motto, “In God We Trust.” The law, passed by the legislature in May and signed by the governor in July, is scheduled to take effect Tuesday.

And the US Women’s National Team’s bid to win an unprecedented third consecutive World Cup title ended Sunday on penalty kicks. It is the earliest exit in tournament history for the United States.
