NTEB SUNDAY SERVICE: Write, For These Words Are True And Faithful

The prophetic words of God are indeed true and faithful, and he requires us to be watching and waiting for them to come to pass. Are you?

In my message today, I want to talk about how God gave words to his prophets and apostles to prepare us for the time we are living in right now. This is not so much a message on the faithfulness of God’s words in general, but on the importance of discerning the times we are living in at this exact moment here in the 21st century. God’s words are always right on time, true and faithful. Preached live this morning at Bethany Baptist Church in Saint Augustine, Florida.

“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.” Revelation 21:5 (KJB)

Study Notes For This Sunday Service

“And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Habakkuk 2:2,3 (KJB)

The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book. For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it. And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah.” Jeremiah 30:1-4 (KJB)

Daniel is a prophet who speaks the fresh words of the living God, and yet, Daniel is not above doing some old-fashioned Bible study to get the clue about the Babylonian captivity he finds himself in.

“In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.” Daniel 9:2 (KJB)

Daniel is given the ‘key of understanding’ about his time in Babylon from Jeremiah, and after he wraps his head around that, God gives Daniel prophecy for the ‘latter days’. The book of Daniel is the “sister book” to the book of Revelation as you see here:

“Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.” Daniel 10:5,6 (KJB)

Compare with:

“His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.” Revelation 1:14-16 (KJB)

Daniel is given words to be put into a book, and so is John.

Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days. And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.” Daniel 10:14,15 (KJB)

Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;” Revelation 1:19 (KJB)

Daniel is told to close his book, but in John’s book he is given a book to open.

“But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” Daniel 12:4 (KJB)

“And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?” Revelation 5:2 (KJB)
