DNC Begins Tonight, Blinken Visits Middle East, and Ukrainian ‘Buffer Zone’ #shorts
The Democratic National Convention begins tonight with roughly 50,000 people expected to arrive in Chicago. That includes thousands of anti-war activists who plan to demonstrate near the United Center where Vice President Kamala Harris will officially accept the party’s nomination for president.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken says the time is now to conclude a Gaza cease-fire agreement that would return hostages held by Hamas back to Israel. He spoke Monday as he began his ninth trip to the Middle East since the conflict began.
And Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says the daring military incursion into Russia’s Kursk region aims to create a buffer zone. Sunday was the first time the president had clearly stated the aim of the operation that began Aug. 6.
