Abundant Life with Pastor John Hagee – “Are You Hard of Hearing?”
Some of us are spiritually hard of hearing. We tune God out! Believe me, God can turn the volume up until He gets your undivided attention. One way God turns up the volume is through earthquakes. There was an earthquake on the resurrection morning that opened the grave of Jesus Christ. To those who were hard of hearing, it was a moment in time that shook the Roman Empire and the world. Matthew 28 reads, “And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and rolled back the stone from the door and sat on it.”
There was an earthquake that set Paul and Silas free from the Philippian jail. The Book of Acts records, “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly, there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.”
Believe me, God is in charge of planet Earth, and He can get your attention. He is not a doting imbecile sitting benignly in the heavens, out of touch and out of control. He is not wringing His hands over the acts of the ungodly. If you refuse to hear the voice of the Lord and reject His leadership, you can expect a personal earthquake. God Almighty will get your attention. Are you listening?
